Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

5.0

i usually like reading about dysfunctional families (because #RepresentationMatters). this, however, was too realistic to be enjoyable. reading it was so depressing, the same way watching the movie marriage story was depressing. this book was just way too realistic. reading about the lees reminded me of my own family and how we never talk to each other or tell each other anything, how our perceptions of each other are probably so different from who we actually are. like i said, reading this was DEPRESSING.

the characters all felt hyper-realistic. i hated all of them and i also sympathized so deeply with all of them. i hated how they acted towards one another (or how they didn't act) but i completely understood why.

the use of the third person omniscient point of view was incredible. idk i cant summarize my thoughts, i just loved this book so much and it also made me very, very sad
