Poetry focusing on the Vietnam War, queerness, being the child of refugees, inter-generational trauma. I loved this on a line by line level, as there's so many striking turns of phrase, like "Then, as if breathing, the sea swelled beneath us." and "Always another hour to kill—only to beg some god to give it back." and "Maybe we pray on our knees because god only listens when we’re this close to the devil."
However, often I couldn't make sense of the poems as a whole, and wasn't always 100% what he was trying to say. Which is probably down to me often not really getting poetry, rather than any flaw in the author.
