This was a good start to the necromancer series. I really enjoyed Erasmus and Franklin. The plot was fast paced but a bit predictable. I knew the bad guy pretty much right away so that wasn’t very surprising.

The authors writing has improved a bit more and she is letting the reader “figure” things out on their own a bit but I still had my issues and that is that she shoved down your throat that Necromancers are abandoned and that Erasmus was lucky that his father didn’t abandoned him and loves him. That he want a mistake. I’m all for family love and all that but when it is mentioned in almost every chapter of Erasmus it got very annoying and tiresome quickly. Half the conversations he had with his parents was how loved he was by them….like that was the whole personality of the parents…oh and his dad is an ass to everyone ig.

Anyways I enjoyed Franklin’s chapters and the police work was fun to read. I also really liked the version of Necromancer powers in this book. Overall I really enjoy this series and I’m excited for any new releases coming in the near future.
