It was just bad writing. Not talking about the gore or graphic sexual assault or body horror, we all know what we're getting into with extreme novels, ESPECIALLY Judith Sonnet. This was a poorly written and rushed project with absolutely no story whatsoever. It literally just made me feel like I was reading someone else's spank material.
Why do we need to sacrifice good and compelling story telling for the sake of an extreme novel? Judith had a really good, strong idea here and just went NOWHERE with it. I loved the themes that reminded me of Hellbound Heart/Hellraiser and felt that the lore and the world surrounding the manor could have been explored much more indepth.
If you have a boring day, you need a quick read to finish off your reading challenge and have a strong stomach then sure, have a read. But don't expect much more from this book then hardcore reading porn and some gore.
