An utterly enchanting tale that gave me massive emotional whiplash and a book hangover that will probably last for WEEKS. Sue Lynn Tan is an absolute master at subverting expectations and classic fantasy tropes. 

Highly, highly recommended if you want a Chinese mythology-inspired retelling with a generous helping of romance, a quest for justice, and an exploration of the ties that bind people together.
