An excellently written memoir about the horrors of an abusive same-sex relationship. Machado's intricate and heartfelt prose, alongside some nuggets of queer history, art, music, literature, and film, made the traumatic moments unique, poignant, and memorable for me.

Goodness gracious! This juxtaposition of beauty and horror in one masterpiece will surely haunt me for days.
