She opens by telling the story of Maryam (also known as the Virgin Mary) and how at 14 as a South Asian Muslim immigrant in a rich Arab country she begins to discover queerness. It’s earnest and hopeful, touching yet informative. I really appreciated how her faith was never questioned, instead she finds her community that accepts her as a butch muslim <3
