Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
5.0
This is actually my least favourite of the potter books, which i know is a pretty unpopular option since from what i heard about most other people this is actually a favourite for most people.
Of course lets all remember that this is still a HP book and because of that even the book i don't prefer, its still a five star read!
But to me this just felt rather underdeveloped especially compared to the other books.
I personally don't think that anything happening in Harry potter is a spoiler since between the books and the movies i honestly don't think that there is anything that has not yet been spoiled in some if you really haven't read the book before, but if you have NOT YET READ THIS, DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW!
My biggest problem with this book is how Sirius Black is horrible "re-introduced".
If we all remember back to the first book, Hagrid says that Black lent him his motorbike, so that Hagrid could bring Harry to Dumbledore!
And now all of a sudden in this book he is this horrible guy that killed Harry's parents, supposedly was a huge supporter of Voldemort but and then he just let Harry get away with Hagrid?
Huh?
What the heck is going in nobody able to think logically?
If he wanted to kill Harry why didn't he do that before Hagrid ever came to the destroyed house? Since he was supposed to be the bad guy here, he would be there before anyone else arrived, right? Or lets leave all that out and just think about why the heck Black would ever giving Hagrid his bike to let the half-giant bring Harry to Dumbledore if he would want Harry dead?
That just... stupid!
And Harry and Ron (especially Ron!) are just horrible to Hermione in this book!
I mean, getting mad at her so that they are no longer for talking to her because she logically thought that a horrible expensive broom might be a try to kill Harry when they all think someone is out to kill him?
That should be a reason to burn her alive!
And why is nobody else taking her side? Isn't Ginny still in Hogwarts? And a friend to her? Or Neville? Why is nobody pointing out to either Harry or Ron how stupid they are behaving -yet again- towards Hermione?
And how stupid is Harry to leave the castle for a stupid village visit when apparently a murderer is after him?
Simply so that he can visit a village that will be there and not going anywhere next year?
Not that Harry is the smartest or most logical cookie in any of the books, but in this one he is especially stupid and illogical!
And the entire drama with Draco?
Other then Hermione slapping him the entire situation with him and the bird was just...
That's just overdone!
And Snape was just even more stupid then he usually was.... I mean i can't stand the guy either way, but learning the "reason" for his horrendous behaviour towards Harry is just stupid. Especially since he has no reason what so ever to be really mean to Neville and he is that. Or did Neville's parents bully Snape too? Or does he hate Neville just because his parents didn't step in when James and is gang were bullies?
Now i am not in any way or format would ever support bullying and there is no other word for what James und Sirius did. But its also not a reason to drag that bullying into another generation that has nothing to do with it in the first place!
Lets leave all that behind for now and talk about what i really LOVE about this book!
I love Lupin!
He is fantastic and kind of cute and well who doesn't love him?
I mean in my head his werewolf self is even a more cute and fluffy just bigger version of an actual wild wolf. Which i am guessing is NOT what the movie version looks like!
And I loved Hermione.
I love hard she is trying and I really hate how much hates she gets for it at every turn.
But her in the deviation classes? LOVE!!!!
And how hard she tries to help Hagrid even though she has a huge load of class work that is kind of killing her and no friends to help her with anything but rather hinder her in every turn!
And this book as one of my favourite moments of all Harry moments?
Harry blowing up his aunt!
Overall I really think this is the weakest books from this series, and the actual and competed nail in my hate for Ron.
Still five stars because... Well I still loved the writing.
I still loved the book, and if I would compare them to the other six books, this book would get five stars without a doubt anyways.
How could i not with Lupin and Sirius are being introduced, Fred and George being their delightful selves and Hermione being as fantastic as she is.
How can you not love it?
