Elfemies to Lovers by Jennifer Chipman

4.0

Well, wasn’t this just a holly jolly time!

This was the very first Christmas book of the season for me and what a way to begin! I loved this novella so much and I can’t wait to read more from Jennifer Chipman.

The story follows Ivy, a girl working as the head elf at Santa’s Christmasland. She worked there to put herself through college, but ended up working there after as well. She knows that there has to be something more to life than being a head elf.

Enter Teddy, a hotshot executive who is in town to visit the corporation his family has put so much time into making what it is. Teddy has worked his way up the chain and is going to be taking his fathers place as the “CEO” eventually. The two meet and immediately butt heads, but that anger soon turns into something different but just as fiery.

One of my favorite aspects of the book was the checklist Teddy and Ivy try to complete before Christmas. Although this was on the longer side of novellas, I felt like the checklist added a certain umph to the plot that directed it in the right way.

The only thing I wish was played on more was the angst. While I know this is a novella, they are together at the midways point. I felt like once they were together, the pining and angst was nowhere to be found. I didn’t feel that pull between Teddy and Ivy after they were officially together and that’s why I took a star away. I just needed more of a pull between the two characters.

I am super pumped to read what’s next for the author!
