This series just keeps getting better, and this time it was centered around Liv and Mack. Liv (Olivia) was a very strong, feisty, independent woman who dreamt of having her own restaurant, but wanted to make her dream a reality through her own hard work. Mack (Braden Mack) was a self man entrepreneur who owned many nightclubs and was the typical playboy bachelor in the book club, but as everyone else was married and in a relationship, Mack started to want to settle down and find his own person. Each individual wanted their dream to become a reality but was faced with their own obstacles.

In a way, this book had “enemies to lovers”, but I would say it was more of Liv treating Mack like an enemy and Mack trying to get on Liv’s good side. Personally that’s just what I imagined while reading this book. Anyways, I loved the banter, and how Liv was kind of ruthless in everything, and I mean that in the sense that she was determined and not a “damsel in distress” as one would expect from a women. For Liv being a strong women, she did struggle with living up to a certain expectation of herself and trying to move away from a past version of herself where she saw herself as a failure, a wild child, etc. Liv was her harshest critic, and whenever she got down on herself, I just wanted to give her a big hug.

Mack on the other hand seemed like everything was going great for him in the beginning of the book from getting another area for his business to potential making things even more serious with his date, but alas things didn’t end up working out with his lawyer date, Gretchen. Mack had always seen the other guys in the book club happy in their own respective relationships that it made Mack imagine what his own future would look like and imagine who would be “the one” he could have that with. Mack’s backstory in this book really brought up significant details to his character, and while I liked him in the first book, I definitely fell in love with him in this one.

Even from the first book, Liv and Mack didn’t get off on the right foot, and it all started when Mack ate Liv’s Chinese leftovers. Note to self to everyone out there, never eat someone’s leftovers! (Sigh) poor Mack didn’t know, but Liv held it against him as well as other things such as him being rich, spending money on unnecessary things (in Liv’s perspective at least), and calling him out on many things. Liv never backed down and was always one upping Mack to the point that sometimes Mack was left either speechless or literally left behind by Liv haha. From the beginning of the story, Liv and Mack once again meet, but it wasn’t all happy and rainbows, it was a complete disaster that ended in a failed date/ breakup for Mack and Liv getting fired from her horrible boss. As if things couldn’t get any worse. Liv caught her boss, Royce Preston in a horrible act towards one of the other employees at the restaurant.

While this story was funny and lighthearted, this book did cover the topic of sexual harassment and coercing as seen by Royce Preston. Liv was adamant and determined to bring justice towards the horrible crime that Royce committed. While Liv wanted to go about things her own way, Mack somehow managed to convince Liv to let him help her. Mack surprisingly had some of his own resources that proved valuable such as a certain someone with impressive It skills by the name of, Noah (which the next book will focus on him). Together Liv and Mack were the duo that in Liv’s opinion could do without, but regardless together they would bring down the villain known as Royce.

Once again I love this book series because, this book challenged the stereotype of what is expected of a man. For instance, all of the men in the Bromance book club decided to go into a book store to physically buy books. The men were determined to show others that you shouldn’t be embarrassed to buy romance novels regardless of your gender. Yay Bromance book club breaking down society stereotypes. In addition, there were some instances when Liv would make fun of Mack and tell him to “man up” or “nice pedicure” to which Mack would respond with, “what’s so wrong with getting a pedicure?”. While Liv was only joking, I liked that Mack was upfront with her and basically told her that even as a man, it shouldn’t be frowned upon. Lyssa did a great job including these little moments throughout the book just as she did in the first book as well. I would highly recommend you read this series because not only will you fall in love with the characters, but the stories are filled with love, important topics, humor, and more.
