Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

You know how you look at the cover of a book, read its title and its synopsis and you have an expectation of what it's gonna be like? This book delivers on all those expectations! And honestly, I thought it deserved a 5 star for that. It doesn't create a whole universe with complex society, politics and magic system, nope. But it never promised that, so that's totally fine. You bought an apple and you got an apple, basically, and it's delicious, yumm. Read this book if you want a cosy story and small banter between very lovable characters. There's even a tiny romance in there and it doesn't feel forced, it's very endearing imo.
It's described as a high fantasy & low stakes novel and it's just that. But when the low stakes are about to be threatened, the way the book makes you connect with the characters, it feels like the whole world is about to collapse. It's kinda like real life. If you get fired from your job or you have a bad breakup, you feel like your whole world is about to collapse and this book makes you feel just that way. It doesn't matter how low stakes are in the grand scheme of things, it makes you extremely upset.
One more thing; I rarely cry about tragedies or loss in a fictional story. What makes me UGLY sob is blossoming friendships, people finishing each others' sentences, banter in an endearing way and just people caring for each other. And this book made me cry so many times. I was sobbing like hell. It's just so wholesome! (Idk what that says about my mental health, pls enlighten me if you think I have daddy issues).
PS: I really really really love coffee! I know what Viv means when she describes it, omg!
