I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
Did not finish book. Stopped at 71%.
DNF at 71% but not because it's bad. I have a ton of respect for Jennette McCurdy and the energy it took to write this down and put it out into the world. Especially with that absolute baller title. This is a narrative that needs telling and we need to normalize not being okay with abusive parents, especially mothers. Shit, we need to normalize the idea of abusive mothers and the children who say "no more."
This book is essential reading. But it hits too close to home for me and reading it has been bad for my mental health. I think Jennette would be okay with that. I wish I could give her a hug.
