If You Were Me by Sam Hepburn
4.0
This is a solid YA thriller - a suspenseful, easy read with likeable characters. A young Afghani refugee in the United States is suspected of committing a bombing, and his younger sister sets out to clear his name. I would have liked to see a bit more political commentary, but the author chooses to be more subtle in the way the book handles prejudice. For the most part, issues of identity/racism take a backseat to the plot. Overall, though, I enjoyed the book (and I think it would make a fantastic movie!).
