A Christmas Past: (Based on characters created by Charles Dickens) by John Trotter
4.0
As someone who re-reads A Christmas Carol each year I was pleased to come across this short story. I love A Christmas Carol and Trotter encapsulates Dickens's writing really well within this short piece. He captures the right tone with his language without it being hard or difficult to read. The descriptions are fantastic, and the references to Dickens work are well placed and not too obvious for a casual reader.
Overall, I would say if you are looking for a short story to get yourself started on A Christmas Carol or are looking to extend the world created by Dickens this is a great little story to read. This short story will no doubt be re-read along with the classic each year and I look forward to reading the second part which is potentially being released in 2021.
