There are definite trigger warnings to check for this. Meadow is on the run from her abusive ex. Abe is the sheriff of the small town she finds herself in. The night she arrives, Abe finds her sleeping behind a dumpster and brings her to his house. Ok. It’s a book. But this woman who has been in a living torture filled hell for five years with a husband who she fell in with quickly, just goes to this strangers house to stay. But alright, she’s pregnant, it’s winter maybe. But then in about 48 hours she decides she wants to spend her life with him. And it’s a no for him for a big part because of his own past trauma. This woman should be in extensive therapy for quite some time before starting another relationship. But here we are. And even when he is like hey maybe we can start something, she’s all this baby is ours. Just defies logic. The author used the torture, SA, and murder of various women for shock value but the story itself is highly lacking and unrealistic.
