Funny Story by Emily Henry

emotional funny hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

5.0

There is an indescribable quality when it comes to Emily Henry. Her ability to bring a story and its characters to life with such a strong sense of realness and relatability is just unbelievably good.

For Miles and Daphne, it's a friendship born from a uniquely messy situation. Fresh from breakups where their exes are now dating each other, brokenhearted Daphne and Miles find solace in each other as unexpected roommates.

I was completely smitten by Miles and his casual, unbothered, go-with-the-flow vibe. But even more so the deeper layers of his character that made him who he was. Daphne was equally as lovable with a focus on rediscovering who exactly she is without a relationship to lean on. Opposites yet complementary in all the best ways, the gradual romantic tension between these two was absolutely addictive.

The summer adventures and family drama! It was so entertaining with its mix of emotion and humour. As always with five star reads, there were so many meaningful moments throughout—it's hard to adequately summarize my love for this one! It was perfect.
