The Black Echo by Michael Connelly

3.0

I could definitely tell that this was the authors debut novel. Some of the language is clunky, and some characters are cartoonish. But the overall plot and thrill of a good cop story are still there.

I guessed both twists halfway in, but less experienced crime readers may not do so. I also felt that the characters of Lewis and Clarke (eyeroll) are written like cartoon goons and were villans for the sake of being villans without much motivation. They also just got randomly killed off so they don't continue pestering the hero.

The overall story and mystery were good for a debut and enough to make me like Harry Bosch and want to read more about him.
