The Brightness Between Us by Eliot Schrefer

5.0

This book was just as much of a rollercoaster as book 1!

I really loved that we got to meet and fall in love with the original Kodiak and Ambrose this time! I also enjoyed getting some of Kodiak’s perspective and learning a bit more about him since we only learnt what he told Ambrose in book 1. Sheep was also a delightful little bonus to this portion of the plot!

Learning about life on Minerva since the end of book 1 was super interesting. All the ups and downs the little family had in the 18 years since the Coordinated Endeavour crash-landed just made me love them all even more. I particularly loved experiencing Kodiak and Ambrose’s relationship from the perspective of their kids.

Just like book 1 this one gave me an existential crisis and I feel like I’ll forever be contemplating how I’d feel if I experienced any of the things these characters have!

Both books have been so beautifully written and I don’t think there’ll be many characters that take up as much of heart as Kodiak and Ambrose do. There’s just something about their personalities, backgrounds and relationship that make them extra special.

I was slightly sad about the ending but I hope it’s been left open for another book! I’d love to see this series become a trilogy.
