The Darkest Secret by Gena Showalter

4.0

~Has spoilers from previous books and this novel!~

In this seventh installment of Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series; we pick up with Amun, keeper of the demon Secrets after in the last novel he and others traveled to Hell to rescue Legion and Amun absorbed hundreds of demons--their thoughts, their urges. Blood lust and pain, every evil deed they had ever committed open to him and driving him insane and putting everyone he loves in danger.

At first he thinks to end himself but then he meets Haidee. A Hunter, she was raised to hate demons but she can't seem to hate Amun and to be together they must face a perilous danger in order to rid Amun from the demons inside of him.

It actually took me a while to get pick this one up because the other novels in the series was so good and I didn't know if this one would live up to my expectations especially since I knew very little about Amun and nothing good about Haidee.

But I have to say it did live up to my expectations and I loved learning more about Amun and Haidee, loved seeing them fight together and how their relationship formed though the hardships. How they managed to except the past and look to the preset and future.

Another thing I really enjoyed about this novel is something that I like about all the authors books about this series so far; that hint of what is to come in future books! I can not wait to get my hands on The Darkest Surrender!!

I would definitely recommend this novel to anyone who has read the ones before and the series to anyone who is looking for a great paranormal read.
