All the Colors of Magic is a humourous and uplifting middle grade read about embracing your true self. Its vivid descriptions and fast pacing makes the book easy to get into. While the characterisation and details of the world isn't up to the calibre that I'm looking for (a common shortcoming in middle grade books), I nevertheless found the central messaging uplifting. I would certainly recommend this to young readers: Penelope is a positive role model in that she encourages authenticity.
