Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

4.0

I think it's time for me to accept Taylor Jenkins Reid as my favourite author because she never misses. Even in the books of hers I haven't loved, I've had to admit how well they've been written and constructed.

Following Carrie who is a record breaking tennis player coming back out of retirement to reclaim her title as best ever tennis player. We watch one of the most incredibly realistic characters learn so much and change their perspective in so many ways.

It's so amazing to me how TJR can always make these characters feel real, I always feel as though I am reading an autobiography instead of a fiction because the characters are so 3D that I feel I have known them my entire life.

I absolutely adored Carrie, she is a very complex yet fascinating character and I was so upset to finish the book and not have more time with her and I rarely feel that way about my book characters.

The fact that this book is entirely repetitive around tennis and having in depth explanations of each tennis match is something I thought would bore me to hell and there would be no way I would enjoy this story but I was so wrong. TJR has the ability to make even tennis fascinating and I am so glad to have read this book!

I would definitely recommend the audiobook as it was full cast narration and definitely added to my experience. Thank you to @libro.fm for the arc copy.
