This book was a light, enjoyable read. It doesn't really have any tension or surprise reveals (save maybe one but I think it was pretty obvious), and it has some pacing issues. The first half of the book is a whole lot of nothing, with Nicholas mostly there to do world building, and Esther sort of advancing the plot, but at a really, almost unnecessarily, slow fashion. Then the last like quarter, everything started happening and it all went so quickly that it didn't have time to build any tension or worry about what was going to happen because it just jumped from thing to thing. I also never really worried about what would happen to the characters because of this... But I did have fun reading it
