The Hanging Night by Sasha Hibbs

5.0

This story covers multiple genres, YA, thriller, mystery, horror, paranormal, and dark romantasy, and has lots of twists.
The writing is poetic, and the storyline is a crafted emotional and supernatural journey that gave me chills.
It has a powerful love throughout eternity / star crossed lovers theme, with souls drawn together and paths woven by fate or other worldly forces.

The use of Tarot cards added to the mystery and helped weave together the complex powers and tragedy at play.
The build up in suspense and intensity of the unknown kept me gripped, and the revelation of the canon event was tragic.
The relationship between Josie and Caius is magnetic and I liked seeing both POV's throughout the story.
The ending was unexpected and devastating, but testament to the authors that it evokes such a response. I was left floundering that there had to be more and it couldn't end that way with the bittersweet closure.
Hope to read the next book asap and that these characters all get to live in peace.
