House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas

3.0

I enjoyed it enough to make it through 800+ pages... It chops and changes POV all over the place though, and in the ebook it's not always obvious that it happened. So you'll be in the middle of a scene and be all "huh, what is Tharion doing there?" But he's not, it's changed POV mid scene.

It doesn't help that there are so many characters by this point, and some of their storylines seemed a bit rushed. Or their whole purpose was just to follow Bryce round and be told stuff.

Lots of convenient super special superpowers happening too. There were enough discoveries that things could have been resolved without making people so extra special. And the power imbalance is surely going to make things worse for humans going forward...

I wasn't a fan of the ACOTAR crossover either. I only read the first book and adding in those characters felt awkward for someone not up to speed with that series.

Anyway, loved the Princes of Hel, Lidia and Jesiba. Main characters not so much.
