How Can It Be? by Kelli Galyean
5.0
✅ Second Chance Contemporary Romance
✅ Jesus changes everything!
✅ True friendship is a huge blessing.
✅ Our sin is never too big for God.
There are so many things I want to say about this book - it was moving, heartbreaking, and swoon worthy! This is author Kelly Galyean’s debut novel and it thrills with heartfelt friendships, moving and inspiring faith, and a slow burn romance that makes you sigh at the sweetness.
This book tackles some very hard topics including the question is my sin too much for Christ? We follow Mia Browning as she struggles with the shame she feels from choices made 10 years in the past. After a weekend with a boy at the age of 19, Mia ends up pregnant. When her mom finds out, she forces Mia to have an abortion so as not to muddy her and her father's aspiring political careers. Despair threatens to consume Mia but the faithful support and encouragement of her close friend Anna pulls her from the edge. Mia finds Christ and her life transforms. She starts the long journey of healing with the new found love and forgiveness in Christ. Fast forward 10 years and her life is turned upside down when the new worship leader of her church turns out to be none other than the very man whom she spent a weekend with so long ago.
I absolutely adored everything about this contemporary romance! The faith was moving and inspiring. It was so refreshing to read both the struggles and the triumphs these characters went through. The importance of forgiveness for others and one's self was beautifully played out. This book showed how important it is to have the right kind of friends and community surrounding us as we walk this path in life. No man is an island. No sin is too great for the love of Christ. No person is too far gone to be redeemed.
Oh, and the romance?!
