The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin

4.0

So many revelations happened towards the end of this book. They were gripping. So much so that I had to stop listening to the audiobook and switch to sitting down and reading the book.
Getting to see Jija and Schaffa from another person’s perspective was interesting. They were definitely fleshed out more as complex characters.
There was one *really* sad moment in this book, though it wasn’t written in a way that made me cry. And there was one super horrific moment in this book, but was written in a way that made it more palatable.
My overall impression of this series so far is that it will be one where the story sticks with me, even though it won’t quite make my favorites list.
