The author wanted to convey the humanity and the persevering hope of Syrians, and she nailed it! This book is the literal embodiment of hope, one that keeps one alive even when faced with death itself, one that keeps painting myriads of colours over the heavy and suffocating grey.

Zoulfa Katouh told a beautiful and sad tale about a girl's fight to survive, armed with her love, her childhood memories and her will to save her small world.
