We Keep the Dead Close: A Murder at Harvard and a Half Century of Silence by Becky Cooper

I was worried going in that this was going to be a slow read- I was wrong. I breezed through this book It is also not at all what I thought it was going to be, but that is probably on me for failing to look into it really at all. I love books that center on journalistic reporting, and in a lot of ways this book did concentrate on that aspect. It's technically a true crime novel, which is a genre that I tend to avoid, but more than that it is a look into the patriarchy and classism that is imbedded in so many of America's universities. My only real complaint is that I think the author tried to have two or three quick conversations about race that I feel fell flat, even though that are really needed. But overall, an excellent read.
(P.S. if you are like me and will immediately look up the ending of true crime novels- don't worry, you will still enjoy the book even knowing who did it.)
