Bloody Fingers & Red Lipstick by Dolores Lane
5.0
Seductively Dark and Depraved.
I could not put this down, it's beautifully written and a deliciously dark and spicy romance.
Set in the 1950's it follows the life of Lucille, an abused housewife trapped in a loveless marriage who vents her frustrations by releasing a dark novel of her fantasies - of brutally killing her husband.
When Dubh gets hold of her book he becomes obsessed, he reads between the lines and realises it's a true story and a cry for help and decides to help free Lucille. He's also currently residing in a mental asylum for murder, connected to the mafia, and he's dead set on his mission to save his new found obsession.
This is a beautifully dark story about embracing desire, sexuality and freedom, and a deadly tale about revenge, retribution and power.
The setting of the 1950's is a stunning backdrop to the story through the fashion, music, lifestyles and expectations in society, and balances so well with the characters and plot.
This is a murderous love story and shows that even psychopathic murderers can be romantic and sweet, and the unsuspecting housewife isn't a damsel in distress but a force to be reckoned with.
Expect murder, violence, graphic sex, themes of trauma, S.A, lots of swearing, the darkest shades of morally grey, stalking, and more.
