Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation by Kristin Kobes Du Mez
4.0
This book is well-researched and sobering (the last chapter was especially tough to get through). Du Mez does an excellent job at analyzing the long history of 20th- and 21st-century American evangelicalism’s relationship with power, masculinity, and militancy, all of which leads her to conclude that the strong evangelical support for Trump (not just once now, but many times) is not all that surprising.
