The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix

1.0

Imagine a white cis dude thinks he can address class disparity, race issues in the early 1900s AND the 1990s, what it means to be a woman/housewife at the turn of the century especially in regards to autonomy and more specifically bodily autonomy and then make it really super graphic! That’s this book. The tone is so off the walls I’m not even sure what I’d call this, except offensive? Just incredibly highly offensive?? Like, I cannot express this any stronger than I already have but I wish cis men would stop assuming they can Understand what it means to be a Woman just because they have mothers. Stay in your lane boy. The race stuff is probably even worse but my frame of reference is off. I just know when I, a white person, have to wonder “was that super duper racist or...?” then it’s probably super duper racist.
