I really did not think I would like this one so much. After reading Women Don't Owe You Pretty, I became skeptical of all feminist writings. However, I think the issue lied in how Florence Given focused on her own victimization in her book, while Roxane Gay focused more on society as a whole, and much less anecdotal.
I loved the humor spread throughout the book, but more so the fact that it didn't take away from the vital seriousness of the book.
This book was very important for me to read. Roxane's touching on eating disorders, distrust in men due to them sucking, and her hopelessness for women's rights all really struck a chord. At no point did I find myself thinking "ok, come on. that's a bit much" which says a lot when you're reading a book about feminism. I absolutely loved this book,
