I read the first book 2 months ago and I honestly don't know how I managed to convince myself that it wasn't that bad after all and that I should give the rest of the series a go. I couldn't get past the first chapter. It reminded me of all the things I despised in book one (the idea that women are expected to "fix" their men in a relationship, how the author barely hides her internalized misogyny, the overall abusive and toxic relationship depicted and normalized...) I decided that I would not make myself go through this all over again!
