Divergent by Veronica Roth

I had been really looking forward to reading this book because I had heard so many good things about it and I wasn't disappointed.
The author creates a good setting of the type of Dystopian world that Beatrice and Caleb have grown up in and it is easier to understand how they are ruled and what kind of conformity they must apply by in each faction.
Straight away I was drawn to the Dauntless faction and I started to will Beatrice to choose them so when she did I was very happy. I like the fact she does mold into the faction, getting various tattoos and altering her style of dress and allowing herself to be free in a way she wasn't before.
Tris as she becomes known is a great character. She is spunky and strong, traits that at first you don't see and only become clear in Dauntless. She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and to sacrifice herself for her friends. And she is human as well, she does wish revenge on those who have hurt her and when they are in pain she is glad that it has come to them. It is refreshing to see this side of a character when normally they are so good, kind and moral. Tris is a little more real.
And Four, darling Four....I started to guess who he really was around the time of visiting day and I was right. I like Four, he is not perfect but he is simply himself and he is so right for Tris. There was a line used by Tris to describe him, something along the lines of, 'he was not particularly kind or handsome' but she was falling for him. More often than not, our object of affection is perfect to us but not to others and Four is perfect for Tris.
I can't wait to see what happens in Insurgent!
