Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward
4.0
In the story Bella has been kidnapped by a lesser, enemy to the vampire. David, the lesser who kidnapped her thinks she's his wife and she's only trying to survive until her brother or the brotherhood comes to save her.
I feel like everyone who have read this series love Zsadist. I feel like every single time when I ask their favorite character in the series it's this abused vampire. I don't dislike him and actually really like him but I don't understand the hype either. I had a problem with a lot of his actions but I loved how different he could act with Bella. He took care of her and even sang to her. I just wish most of the sweet things he did didn't happen when he thought he was losing her.
I like most of Ward's heroines and Bella is not any different. She's kind and she's determined to have Zsadist. No other vampire would do for her, despite the many, many times Zsadist tried to push his twin brother to her.
We had different opinions on Phury with Ruby. She couldn't stand him but I felt so bad for him. Phury always felt guilty for not being the one kidnapped when they were babies and felt responsible for everything Zsadist went through, so he stopped living his own life and dedicated it to his twin brother.
Lover Awakened reminded me how annoying multiple point of views can be. It's difficult to enjoy reading about side characters, like John Matthew when all I want is to focus on is our main couple.
The book was very enjoyable even if not one of my favorites in this series. I could relate to Zsadist feeling unworthy but it was mentioned way too often and I hated how he knew how he felt towards Bella but still kept pushing her to Phury and even did something that wasn't cheating but it felt like it to me. Thankfully Bella isn't one of those women (or females in this case) who is willing to be with someone else when they can't get who they want. I didn't like how this book deal with raped men, like Ruby said when we discussed this together: a character even mentions he's less of a man because of the fact that he was raped.
