Together Tea by Marjan Kamali

I really enjoyed this novel. So much so, I found Kamali on Instagram and began following her. The first thing I saw in her photos was a picture of a pomegranate, and I wanted to cry. (I won't include spoilers as to why) Then I tagged her in my book photo, and she commented on the pic. Swoon! #booknerd moment.

A friend sent me this book in the mail, and I'm so glad she did. I learned a lot of about Iran and the political uprising. But, I also related a lot to the issues the Mina, the main character, faced being bi-cultural. There's an interesting gray area amongst the hyphenated people who inhabit the Unites States.

So, I would highly recommend this book. It has a little bit of everything. The family dynamic is wonderful and will make readers laugh. The politics are serious, but good to know and eye opening how something like that can happen in a country. Sections very much applied to today's political climate. There was the bicultural qualities I've mentioned, and there was a little bit of romance. Who doesn't need a little romance in their life? Go. Read it. Now. And, look up Kamali on Instagram.
