This is my third time reading Fourth Wing, and it gets better everytime. I am rereading in preparation for reading Onyx Storm, and I find new things that I didn't recall or that are little foreshadowings for future events. While there are things that Ms. Yarros doesn't do perfectly, overall this is a highly entertaining series.
If you love dragon riders, training sequences, snarky dragons, sexy men and women dressing all in black and dark and broody males, then this series is definately for you.
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant; however, her mother believes that ever Sorrengail should be Dragon Rider. So, Violet is forced to cross the treachorous parapet on subscription day to join Basgiath War College for Dragon Riders. Where many rider's in training die every single day from hand-to-hand training, falling off your dragon, or falling off training obstacles.
Violet has told herself time and time again to stay away from Xaden Riorson, dark haired, chiseled, eldest child of all the rebels children. Seven years ago, there was a rebellion within the Rider's Quadrant, and all the rebels were executed and their children magically marked with the rebellion relic. Xaden doesn't seem the least bit interested in Violet, but continues to show up and provide verbal support, if nothing else, when she needs it most.
