I understand why a lot of people love this book. It's a hockey romance, friends for years who finally get together, a cinnamon role MMC who went through something traumatic and life changing and a ballbusting FMC estranged from her family. It has even got connections to the mafia in it.
I mean I was excited for it because I love hockey romances and I'm from Canada so I understand the hockey life.
However, I cannot, for the life of me, connect to these characters. I'm an emotional reader. I feel the emotions of the characters as they're written but I just feel completely neutral reading this. I keep waiting for the moment where my heart starts racing but it's not happening.
I kept hoping as the book went on, it would get better but I actually feel like the dialogue is getting more cringe. Not only that but I also felt like at times, something was missing. Like a scene or dialogue ended abruptly or I was confused by a part of the book because it felt like there was a hole in the plot.
Overall, this book just isn't for me.
