Lady of Ashes by Melissa K. Roehrich

“We are a family. We choose each other. We claim each other. We challenge each other, push each other, listen to each other. But it only works because we trust each other. And when we do not do those things? That is when we break. That is when unnecessary tragedy is allowed to bloom.”

Lady of Ashes is the thrilling third installment in the Lady of Darkness series and the book cemented itself as my favorite in the series so far.

Every time I opened this book I was flooded by so many emotions. There was so suffering and grief the characters have experienced.

The secondary characters truly shine in this book and I appreciate the author for ensuring they do not blend in the background as they usually do mid-series. They're all essential to the story and have their own journeys which I'm excited to see more of.

The Found Family dynamic is so beautifully done and I mentioned this in my reviews before, but I adore these characters and their bonds so much. It's as important as the romance and I always appreciate platonic forms of love.

Im both excited and terrified of the remaining two books. I can tell the author loves to make her characters suffer so I'm bracing myself for it.

Trigger Warning: death, torture, abuse, sexual assault, violence.
