When you read a synopsis and start reading the book, you form an expectation, and if the author doesn’t meet it, the reading becomes predictable and boring. That’s what happened to me with this book, although I could anticipate it and decided to give it a chance to see if something would change, but it didn’t.

The initial premise is about grief and uses a unique way of presenting it. However, it does so in a vague way that loses meaning as the chapters go by. The exploration of grief in Piper remains superficial, and the same happens with the other characters.

Regarding Anders, his personal problems and his project with the island had no correlation, although the author tried to create some sort of drama around it. It was a rather simple and unmemorable read due to the lack of connection with the characters and between the characters themselves.

Cuando se lee una sinopsis y empiezas a leer el libro, formulas una expectativa y si el autor no la cumple, la lectura se vuelve predecible y aburrida. Eso me pasó con este libro, aunque lo pude anticipar y decidí darle la oportunidad a ver si algo cambiaba, pero no.

La premisa inicial es acerca del duelo y utiliza una forma única de presentarlo. Sin embargo, lo hace de una forma vaga que va perdiendo sentido con el pasar de los capítulos. La exploración del duelo en Piper se queda de manera superficial, y así pasa con los demás personajes.

En relación a Anders, sus problemas personales y su proyecto con la isla no tenían correlación, aunque la autora intentó crear un tipo de drama al respecto. Fue una lectura bastante simple y poco memorable por la falta de conexión con los personajes y entre los personajes mismos.
