Do you want a book with summery vibes while being on a fancy yacht spending the summer in the South of France? Oh wait, I also forgot to mention the grumpy French men who’s looking for a nanny for his young daughter, seems like it’ll be a cake walk right? At least that’s what Josie thought, but little did she know what she’d be faced with.

This book had, grumpy/sunshine but Josie was more of a sassy sunshine girly. In addition, Xavier was a single dad, billionaire, and this book just oozed summer vibes with the majority of the characters spending their time on a fancy yacht and spending the summer in the South of France. Also side note, even the cover was gorgeous, I loved the blue hues from the water, the text, the attention to detail is part of what sold me on getting this book! If you’ve been looking for a book that has billionaire romance, boss/ employee dynamic specifically him being the boss and her being the nanny, good tension, steamy, passionate romance, feel good vibes, and looking for an escape, this is the book!

Josie was a hardworking woman who was hoping for a promotion at her architecture firm,  until suddenly one of her bosses passed her over in favor of his own incompetent nephew. Josie quit her job over the lack of fairness and sexism in the workplace, she deserved better for all the work she put in over the years, it seemed like she had to start over in hopes of finding a new job. Meanwhile, Josie’s best friend/ roommate, Tabitha who had her own nanny agency was looking for a replacement for one of her clients, a rich, French billionaire by the name of, Xavier. Xavier was a business men who needed help with caring for his only daughter, Dauphine. Seemed like luck that when Josie was out trying to take her mind off the worst day she had that Tabitha and Meredith (also best friend/ roommate) suggested that Josie become the nanny to Xavier’s daughter. Suddenly, Josie found herself agreeing and her summer was going to be spent in a way she had never imagined was possible.

Xavier, grumpy, rich billionaire and single dad was all about trying to provide for his daughter, Dauphine and run his business on a daily basis. Xavier was no stranger to being posted on the front of tabloids depicting him certain ways, but all that matter what the safety of Dauphine. After the passing of his late wife, Xavier didn’t give romance much thought at all, instead focused on other important things in his life, until a certain sassy, auburn haired architect became his daughter’s nanny. I thought it was funny how Xavier, who was in his own words normally a smooth, cool guy found himself thinking about Josie and even couldn’t sleep since he couldn’t help but recall the time when he first saw her. In other words, the grumpy man was attracted to Josie. Despite Xavier’s initial doubts and mixed feelings towards Josie, I liked seeing him loosen up a bit around Josie and actually laugh and smile, for a fictional men, the way Josie described his smile even I was swooning.

Now I know some people are very particular about children characters in books and rest assured that Dauphine is adorable and funny. Dauphine, was precocious and sweet, and endearing. After her mother passing away, Dauphine only had her father, Xavier, so in terms of family he was the only one she had left. I genuinely liked the friendship and close bond that Dauphine and Josie had very early on in the story. Everything was natural and didn’t feel forced. I was loved the father/ daughter relationship between Xavier and Dauphine. Anything with a father/ daughter storyline hits me right in the feels, and I get emotional over.

The tension in this book was *muah, chef’s kiss! Between Xavier acting hot and cold, to then back and forth of giving little bits of his life to Josie to literally pushing her away, Josie always felt like, “what the heck is this guy’s deal??” Obviously as the reader, I knew that Xavier was just trying to keep his distance and his crush from Josie from being noticeable as well as maintaining professionalism. Poor Josie on the other hand felt like whenever she would get little glimpses of Xavier being kind and thoughtful, suddenly he would be rude and grumpy towards her. True grumpy man at play throughout the book, but also poor Xavier because he was secretly a man crushing on Josie. In the beginning, those deep, longing glances and little touches of contact had me squealing with delight! Nothing like good tension to get the romance going. In the beginning, it almost felt like it was going to be a slow burn romance judging by the tension and pace both Josie and Xavier were going at which I didn’t mind at all.

When I tell you the moment that Josie and Xavier finally acted on their desire for one another… I ALMOST SCREAMED WITH JOY, but being mindful of others around me, I was internally screaming and smiling. Not to mention, certain scenes stood out like the nightclub, their first kiss and of course back in Josie’s room on the yacht!!! YASSSSSS! WOOOO! Xavier went from being an absolute grump, to starting to become playful and joyful around Josie. Yes, Xavier was still grumpy at times, but when it came to Josie, he realized there was no point in acting rude to her or trying to stay away, if anything it made him feel horrible to think that Josie was angry with her. While Josie and Xavier believed they could do a “no-strings-attachment” I was like, “HAHA good luck with that”, because I knew in their own minds, they knew they wanted more, but due to different circumstances especially with Xavier, they believed their romance would be short lived. Thankfully things got sorted out, and in my opinion, if it wasn’t for Evan and Xavier’s mom playing matchmaker, Josie and Xavier wouldn’t have gotten the push to make the move on each other. (Sigh) in other words, I enjoyed the romance and let me just say… WHEN A MAN SPEAKS TO YOU IN HIS NATIVE LANGUAGE, THAT’S HOT! ADD INTO THE MIX HE SPEAKS TO YOU IN HIS LANGUAGE WHILE IN THE BEDROOM AND STRAIGHT UP DIRTY TALKING TO YOU!!!!!!! *Me going into cardiac arrest!!!!

Not only was this a great story, but the added level of drama that lurked behind the scenes of the plot was interesting. Xavier’s life was already demanding due to his business/ invention, not to mention trying his best to raise his Dauphine, but there was also his late wife’s brother who could potentially mean danger towards Dauphine. There was a level of suspense when Dauphine was taken that I wasn’t expecting, but it definitely added more to the conflict with the story. In addition, with Xavier being unable to trust others, it created conflict between Josie and him. While reading, i felt emphatic towards the reasoning why Xavier was so guarded and questioned the trust of people around him, but even after everything he and Josie went through especially when the drama unfolded of Dauphine getting kidnapped, I felt bad for both Josie and Xavier. Xavier had good character growth and came to realize that Josie was much more important than he realized. Xavier was able to lower his guard, and see that Josie was someone who could trust and she’d always be there for him and Dauphine.

Overall, by the end, I was absolutely, head over heels in love with this story. This book exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t get enough of Josie, Xavier and Dauphine being so adorable. I especially loved the ending, truly the epitome of a happily ever after and of course who doesn’t love a bit of groveling from a man (ahem Xavier). I loved the connection between all the characters, the romance, the little bits of angst, passion, and more. An amazing book to read whenever and you’ll truly feel like you’ve escaped into the storyline alongside Josie and Xavier. Besides, who doesn’t love a story about a billionaire single dad while going around the South of France and finding happiness? Sounds pretty perfect for Josie that’s for sure.
