The premise of this book reminded me of the film 'The Purple Rose of Cairo' in which a woman attends the same film several times and then suddenly one of the characters on the screen starts talking to her instead of saying his usual lines. A teenaged girl becomes infatuated with a fairy tale prince in a book she has checked out of the school library multiple times, and then one day the prince talks back to her from the pages. They become quite besotted with each other and her mother becomes worried about her daughter's behaviour. Lovely illustrations.
