I absolutely loved it.
I had some trouble initially with it being third present (I'm used to reading past tense), but eventually got used to it. It is very atmospheric - a bit on the eerie side, which I liked.
The book has elements of family, discovering oneself, life and death, as well as magic (so it is on the heavy/more emotional side). The idea behind it, I found very interesting. There could be scope for more exploration of that universe and perhaps even Gallant itself again.
It's not without some drawbacks, I felt like the final few chapters went by so fast it took away a bit from the gentle lull that was present throughout most of the book. But this depends on also on preferences.
The characters were also great, and I think Olivia was written rather beautifully and the other characters are well-written too. The prose was absolutely fantastic as well and it pulled me in right away.
This is one book I will definitely re-read.
