Elfemies to Lovers by Jennifer Chipman
2.75
I originally was drawn to this book by the idea of it being set in the North Pole and the potential for found family. Unfortunately, I found both these ideas to be lacking. Don't get me wrong- is it set in the North Pole? Do they visit around town? Yes. However, those scenes were VERY short and gave me nothing to grasp on to. I was interested to learn more about Ivy's family backstory since a key part of the book was that she didn't have a family growing up moving from foster home to foster home. We get a short scene with her grandma and that's pretty much it?! She doesn't really get to know anyone during her stay at the North Pole besides Teddy. Even in parts where I thought we could get more interaction with the community, it was a paragraph long and then they would leave.
There are some elements of this that I did like. For instance, I loved the goal list they made to make Ivy's Christmas special. I just needed more from the story than I got.
Overall, this wasn't for me.
