Bomb: The Race to Build--And Steal--The World's Most Dangerous Weapon by Steve Sheinkin

5.0

Narrative non-fiction books that really draw you into the characters are my favorite kind of nonfiction. You get to look into events you already know with a completely different lens. The spy aspects of this story were my personal favorites. I felt I’d already heard from the physicists and their horror at what they’d wrought, but the spies demonstrated more complexity than what I’d read in textbooks. I read this as part of a book group in my middle school, and I’m looking forward to digging into it a little more. With much to add to chemistry, physics, and US history classes, I think it could be a valuable and enjoyable read for many students.
