Know My Name by Chanel Miller
5.0
I, like many, was guilty of not knowing much about Miller besides her role as a victim. However, I am grateful to her for writing this searing, honest account that eloquently exposes her experiences. Not only is it incredibly inspiring, it is also clearly critical of institutional complicity (both the justice system and higher education) in the mishandling of assault. Additionally, I found it interesting how she wove today's situation with racism into the conversation. While her writing was both beautiful and matter-of-fact throughout, I wasn't a huge fan of the stylistic choice to italicize thoughts, conversations, trial transcripts, etc. However, I still highly recommend that everyone read this book.
