Power and Prediction: The Disruptive Economics of Artificial Intelligence by Avi Goldfarb, Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans

4.0

Being an Information Analyst, this book couldn't have been more relevant. Artificial intelligence has become an integral component of my day job, and the information served in "Power and Prediction" further illustrates how AI is here to stay.

The authors let it be known that the goal of this book is to stimulate motivation into developing AI system solution. One point I found particularly intriguing was the fact that despite the recent influx of AI employment, be it within Silicon Valley or beyond, AI is still in its infant stages. Personally, the juxtaposition between the speed of talk regarding AI and the actual maturity of the technology triggers something to ponder. As an employee, I've got to wonder how this shift will affect me.

For business readers, I reckon this book will not only be valuable but it will also be entertaining. It starts off with background information on the evolution of energy - think steam and electricity. The content structure then progresses into core topics - the use of AI in prediction to empower decision-making.
