great premise, & a wonderful slow burn rivals to lovers. but scene & section transitions could be a bit abrupt, and I think Saft fell victim to the “same gender partner curse” — a lot of “she ran her hand down her jaw and kissed her slowly,” and not enough use of names to distinguish between Lorelei & Sylvia
there was a lot of forward momentum plot-wise. it always felt like they were “going” & “doing” which is great, but I also feel like a bit more time & attention could’ve been spent on the world & magic building. it had moments of “this is how it is, just go with it”
but overall, I really enjoyed it & it makes me really excited to get into Fragile Enchantment
