The Bridge of Silver Wings by John Wiltshire
5.0
Well my two favorite men are back and can I just say I'm sorry they just cannot seem to catch a darn break. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the story, but by now you know Ben & Nikolas are just begging for some respite in-between all these life harrowing events.
From how book two's last disaster ended, to immediately crashing into another disaster, quite literally for the first part of the story. You know the story telling is great when you're sucked into the story and know darn well the MC's will survive their ordeal but are stressed just the same while reading about them trying to survive while stranded in the Russian wilderness in winter.
Now on to Part Two - wow, what a roller coaster that was. I know Nikolas was right in allowing Ben to make the choices he was making, and that it was necessary for him to learn from the clear mistakes he was making by getting sucked into the vapid relationships of his distant relatives, but it was stressful to read it happening. In the end, of course, that too worked itself out, but yikes, getting there...another stress read.
“I decided for us, Nikolas, because I knew you never would. That’s how I see myself now, and that’s never going to change. All of this has made me realise what I want in life and what I don’t. So that’s it. I’m half you now. I always have been; I just hadn’t told you, I guess. Now I have.”
That this gesture of Ben to Nikolas was so small and yet profound to demonstrate to Nikolas how much Ben loved him and was committed to him was definitely something Nikolas needed; though likely didn't know he needed it. I was just as fooled as Nikolas was upon Ben's return to the house thinking things would go in an entirely different direction. I was crying sad tears that quickly turned to happy tears.
These two men have grown personally as individuals and as a couple and I am loving all this character development.
Anyway, all of that to say that this is yet another amazing book by John Wiltshire and I cannot wait to jump into the next. You're storytelling has captured me hook, line and sinker and will sing your praises to anyone who will listen about these wonderful characters you created and their stories you've told.
