I originally read this book in its first draft on wattpad and I loved it. When I saw the author had self-published I HAD to buy and support her and of course I had to read it all again!

I love Jake and Alex. I think Alex is sexy, and elegant and intelligent (when she wants to be) and Jake is sexy, and dark and emotional (when he wants to be).

I will say I remembered this book having a bit more of the “mafia” plot to it, although I’m not sure if that’s the right word for it. However, apart from the prologue and the epilogue there is no real insight into Jake’s job or “business”. Alex doesn’t really get involved in it and since this is from her perspective I suppose it makes sense it doesn’t really come up much. Still I do wish there was little more action.

As for the another type of “action”… oh boy there is PLENTY of that. I’m stark contrast I honestly did not remember this book being SO spicy! There is a lot of spice. I love some good spice, but I’m excited for the next book because I think that one will have more growth for Alex and Jake’s relationship outside the bedroom.

Overall I absolutely enjoyed this read! I would recommend to those who like spice, romance, bad boys, but I would not call this “dark romance” these days and I mean that as a compliment because while there is some violence mentioned there is very little scene. And Jake never hurts Alex or threatens to hurt her at all. Thank god. He loves her because he’s a smushy lil puppy for her on the inside.
